Job Description

Create an encouraging learning environment while the classroom teacher is absent; effectively manage and instruct class by effectively interpreting and executing lesson plans; supervising students in and out of the classroom; create reports to inform teachers of absences, student behavior, etc. The typical class size is 16 students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide for the education, care, safety, and well-being of all children in the group
• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions, and maintain a positive learning environment
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground, and in the cafeteria
• Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan(s)
• Create a classroom environment that is healthy, safe, and conducive to learning
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities by taking all necessary and reasonable precautions
• Enforce school rules and encourage good behavior
• Interact effectively
• Perform any related duties as assigned by the Center Director or Head of School.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher
• Meets required standards, including a clear fingerprinting and background check
• Experience working with children
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Job Type: As needed

Pay: $12 per hour

Expected hours: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
