Summer Camp Counselor (WW-P Community Education) (June 29-August 7)

Join WW-P Community Education (CE Summer Assistant) this summer as a Camp Counselor from June 29 through August 7, and become a vital part of an energetic, nurturing environment dedicated to inspiring children and fostering their growth. As a Camp Counselor (CE Summer Assistant), you will lead engaging activities, ensure safety, and create memorable experiences for campers. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop leadership skills, work in a vibrant team setting, and make a positive impact on young lives through fun, education, and support.

Candidates must be willing to get in the pool with campers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate a variety of camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, theater, and outdoor adventures to promote fun and learning.
  • Maintain a safe environment by supervising children at all times and implementing proper behavior management techniques.
  • Assist with classroom management during structured activities, ensuring all children are engaged and included.
  • Provide first aid when necessary and communicate effectively with campers, parents, and team members regarding any concerns or incidents.
  • Support children with special education needs or behavioral challenges by applying inclusive teaching strategies and personalized attention.
  • Foster a positive camp atmosphere by encouraging teamwork, kindness, and respect among campers.
  • Collaborate with fellow counselors to plan daily schedules and ensure smooth operation of camp programs.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, tutoring, babysitting, or camp programs is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management techniques, and early childhood education is preferred.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is required or must be obtained before the start date.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to handle diverse needs, including special education considerations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
  • Enthusiasm for working outdoors and engaging in physical activities such as sports coaching or recreational games.

Pay: $15.92 - $17.50 per hour
