SALARY: $19.51
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR

JOB SUMMARY:

The Summer Help Labor (Maintenance) reports to the Recreation Director. This is a non-supervisory position engaged in construction, repair, or maintenance of City parks and facilities. Duties include operation of various types of equipment, facilitating directives for the care of City parks and facilities. This position will require night and weekend availability.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The following list of essential job functions is not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

· Operates mowers, tractors, vehicles and equipment

· Utilize a variety of hand and power tools in park landscape maintenance work

· Assist in routine maintenance of such equipment

· Operate a weed eater, mower and other equipment as necessary

· Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities

· Water, mow, weed trim, renovate lawns

· Prune trees and shrubs; plant trees, flower, and shrubs; rake leaves and clean walks, fields, courts and recreational facilities

· Perform manual labor including lifting heavy weights, stooping, bending and twisting

· May assist in other sections of the department as necessary

· Perform other duties, as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment; safe work practices. Ability to perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in a variety of construction and maintenance activities; perform heavy manual labor; learn to operate a variety of construction and maintenance equipment. Ability to work independently in the absence of specific instructions. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors. Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

QUALIFICATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

· Must be 18 years of age or older

· High School Diploma or GED

· Must possess Ohio Driver License and have a strong driving record

· Experience with mowers and landscape equipment preferred, but not required

Repetitive use of computer keyboard. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the office and moderate to loud in the field
