Pay Range: USD $75,130.00 - USD $135,230.00 /Hr. Overview:
Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Electrical Distribution Supervisor to help lead our Electrical Distribution team.
In this role, you will oversee the skilled staff who keep our campus powered and running safely every day. You’ll manage and support all aspects of Auburn’s primary electrical distribution system, including substations, transformers, switches, relays, protection devices, and metering and monitoring equipment, as well as our campus traffic control equipment.

Responsibilities:
- Ensures the operation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, monitoring, and metering of the primary electrical distribution system on campus.

Ensures the maintenance and repair of the traffic signals on campus and is responsible for addressing street and parking lot lighting issues as they are reported.

Responsible for overseeing the prompt response to electrical and traffic signal issues and outages. Troubleshoots and restores services in a timely manner while minimizing campus disruptions.

Ensures all work performed by the Electrical Distribution staff is completed in a safe manner and in compliance with university, industry, state, and federal standards, laws, and guidelines. Develops safe operating instructions, procedures, and policies for assigned workforce. Builds up proactive, positive safety behaviors for his employees and enforces adherence to safety policies. Participates in physical lineman work when necessary.

Reviews plans and specifications from architects and engineers for new construction and renovation projects that impact the primary electrical distribution system. Coordinates with and advises engineers, construction project managers, and other personnel concerning decisions affecting the electrical infrastructure. Ensures Electrical Distribution support of active construction projects on campus and helps resolve utility-related conflicts or concerns. Understands Auburn University utility standards to help ensure quality installation.

With support from leadership, develops, plans, and executes improvement initiatives and preventive maintenance projects to ensure the reliability of the University’s electrical distribution, traffic, and campus lighting systems.

Manages financial responsibilities of the Electrical Distribution shop including budgeting, inventory, purchasing materials, hiring contractors, receiving invoices, and billing of labor. Handles other administrative duties as necessary.

Aids in the professional growth of each direct report through performance evaluation, coaching, goal setting, routine talent development dialogue, and ensuring scheduling and attendance at training and educational opportunities. Develops a culture that manifests itself in a positive, accountable, and continuously improving work group.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma + 12 years of progressive experience performing and leading electrical distribution system operations, maintenance, and modifications.

Lineman Apprenticeship Certification from TVPPA or equivalent program approved by Auburn University. Utilities & Energy Department

CDL - Group A - Commercial Drivers License Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brakes within 90 Days required

CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR certification within 90 Days required
SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE: Yes, When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert-level knowledge of medium voltage (600Volts and above) electrical distribution system operations and maintenance.

Advanced knowledge of safe and effective methods of performing and supervising work; knowledge of safe & correct operation of vehicles and equipment.

Thorough knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and resolve nonstandard issues of highest complexity.

Thorough knowledge of line tagging standards and switching order requirements.

Ability to lead, train, and motivate others; ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees.

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, switching orders, and other technical drawings.

Ability to interpret situations quickly and make logical decisions under high pressure and time-sensitive situations.

Preferred knowledge of Auburn University's electrical distribution system’s design, operations, and interconnections with other systems.
