Job Summary
As a Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting precise measurements and mapping of land areas to provide essential data for construction, engineering, and land development projects.
Duties
- Conduct site surveys: Perform detailed land surveys to establish boundaries, topography, and existing infrastructure.
- Research historical data: Consult legal documents, old surveys, and land titles to understand the context of the site.
- Analyze data: Use surveying equipment (like total stations, GPS, and 3D laser scanners) and software (like AutoCAD) to analyze data and create maps and reports.
- Collaborate with engineers: Work with engineers and architects to prepare accurate site plans and verify data.
- Site layout and staking: Precisely lay out and stake the project, guiding construction crews and ensuring structures are placed correctly from the start.
- Measure elevations and distances: Measure and set correct elevations for the roadbed, slopes, and drainage to ensure proper water flow and structural integrity.
- Verify construction: Regularly check that the work being done matches the design plans, verifying levels, slopes, and directions.
- Manage field staff: Supervise and guide field staff to ensure accurate and efficient surveying work.
- Maintain equipment: Purchase and maintain specialized surveying instruments and equipment.
