About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Manager to oversee landfill and civil infrastructure construction projects. This individual will manage all aspects of field construction, including earthwork, liner systems, leachate collection, and drainage installations. The ideal candidate will also assist with engineering functions such as bid document preparation, contract preparation, project design support, volume calculations, and technical reporting to ensure projects meet regulatory, quality, and budgetary requirements.
This is a hands-on role suited for an experienced professional who can lead field operations while collaborating closely with engineering staff to deliver efficient, compliant, and high-quality landfill construction projects.
Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and oversee landfill construction projects, including excavation, liner installation, gas and leachate systems, and final cover construction.

Supervise field crews, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring safety, quality control, and adherence to project specifications.

Perform engineering support tasks, including preparing and reviewing grading plans, cut/fill analyses, and volume calculations.

Assist in the preparation of design drawings, construction documents, and as-built surveys.

Conduct field inspections to verify compliance with design, environmental regulations, and QA/QC standards.

Coordinate with environmental engineers, permitting specialists, and regulatory agencies as needed.

Prepare daily reports, progress updates, and cost tracking documentation.

Manage project schedules, budgets, and materials procurement.

Support drone and GPS survey operations for construction progress tracking and reporting.

Provide engineering judgment to troubleshoot design or field challenges in real-time.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

5–10 years of experience in construction management, preferably in landfill or heavy civil construction.

Strong understanding of earthwork, geosynthetics, leachate collection systems, and stormwater management.

Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and survey data.

Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble, or similar design and field software.

Familiarity with QA/QC testing, CQA documentation, and regulatory reporting requirements for landfill construction.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently in the field.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) preferred.

OSHA 30-hour or equivalent construction safety training.

Experience with drone operations and photogrammetry software (e.g., Propeller, Carlson, DroneDeploy) a plus.

Knowledge of state landfill design standards and solid waste regulations.
