The Takeoff Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate quantity takeoffs and material breakdowns from architectural and interior drawings. This role ensures that measurements, scope definitions, and product selections are precisely captured for estimating, procurement, and production teams.
You will work closely with the Estimating and Project Coordination teams to translate drawings and specifications into actionable project data.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Drawing Analysis & Takeoffs
● Review architectural, structural, and interior design drawings to identify scope for counter tops, cabinetry, and flooring.
● Prepare detailed quantities, linear footage, square footage, and material area calculations.
● Identify edge profiles, finishes, sink cut-outs, backsplashes, and transitions for counter tops.
● For cabinets, quantify base units, wall units, hardware, and accessories.
● For flooring, calculate material coverage, waste factors, and pattern layouts.
2. Data & Documentation
● Enter takeoff data into standard Blink Global templates for estimating and vendor RFQs.
● Annotate drawings with highlights, dimensions, and callouts to visually support takeoff data.
● Maintain organized records of drawing versions, RFI clarifications, and revisions.
3. Coordination & Support
● Collaborate with the Estimating team to validate quantities and cost assumptions.
● Support Project Managers during pre-construction by clarifying quantities and scope.
● Work with vendors and manufacturers to align on standard slab sizes, cabinet modules, and flooring SKUs.
4. Quality Control
● Perform peer reviews on takeoffs for accuracy and completeness.
● Ensure all deliverables meet Blink Global’s documentation standards.
● Flag scope gaps, discrepancies, or design conflicts early in the process.
Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
● 2–5 years of experience in quantity takeoffs, estimating, or drafting (preferably within millwork, stone, or flooring trades).
● Strong command of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar takeoff software.
● Familiarity with U.S. construction drawings and measurement standards.
● Proficient in Excel for data tabulation and formula-based quantity summaries.
● Excellent attention to detail, spatial understanding, and time management
