Summary:
Supports the human resource functions including recruiting, hiring, HRIS management, leaves and benefits. The Talent Development & HR Specialist is primarily responsible for the development and management of the KOA Work Kamper and internship programs. This position will grow the pool of Work Kamper teams, establish a new pool of seasonal workers, and cultivate partnerships with outside organizations. Will assist franchisees with general HR questions as it relates to employment questions and best practices without crossing joint-employer lines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Talent Development
o Create long-term goals and strategic plans to increase pool of qualified Work Kamper teams and individuals
o Proactively develop and implement program changes and enhancements
o Oversee recruiting platform web content, management, and design
o Work with KOA’s Marketing team to increase site visibility and develop marketing strategy for Work Kamper recruitment
o Manage KOAs Work Kamper Facebook page
o Grow program use and participation from KOAs Franchise System
o Provide training, when needed, for franchisees and OAK properties on recruiting platforms including assisting with posting jobs, searching for candidates
  • Engagement
o Grow brand awareness of KOA as a great place to work by leading the internship program and working with colleges, universities and hospitality schools
o Cultivate partnerships that support KOA’s Inclusion efforts in the workforce
o Actively engage with stakeholders to best understand the unique needs of campground owners and managers by attending 20-group meetings, participating in workforce discussions, campground visits or special events
  • HR Specialist
o Assist in updating and maintaining current human resource manuals and policies
o Conduct and assist with various audits as directed
o Assist with qualifying, screening and interviewing applicants
o Conduct new-hire orientations, periodic follow ups and exit interviews
o Assist with benefit management, including wellness fair, open enrollment and updates
o Coordinate employee leaves paperwork and payroll data

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Write and publish monthly Work Kamper Hot Jobs email newsletter.
  • Special projects and assignments, as needed
  • Attend special recruitment events, as needed
  • Assist with Gallup Surveys
  • 45-day new hire check-ins as needed
  • Back up to the HRBPs and their duties such as unemployment and worker’s compensation claims

Required Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Human Resources
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of employment compliance and various state laws
  • Understanding of benefits and leaves
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other office technology
  • Ability to solve problems, and prioritize work in a face pace environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong Attention to detail
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related field
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP or PHR).
  • Knowledge of Smart Job Board
  • Dayforce experience
  • Confident and clear presentation skills
  • Understanding of payroll practices
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboard, including lifting and carrying a laptop and other small items up to 20 pounds.
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens and artificial lighting.
  • Use of repetitive motion, standing, bending, sitting, lifting, and walking short distances.
  • May be expected to drive a vehicle to KOA locations, other locations as directed, and conferences which requires close and distance vision, sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, other vehicles, etc. Travel occurs in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Frequent in person interaction with KOA employees in various settings, where noise level is typically low to moderate, including office spaces.
  • Will experience occasional interruptions and shifting priorities.
