Job Summary
As a Tax Manager, you will lead a team of tax professionals in delivering exceptional service to our individual and business clients. You will be responsible for overseeing complex tax engagements, mentoring staff, and playing a key role in the firm’s technical and operational growth. The Tax Manager serves as a trusted advisor to clients and a development resource for the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review complex tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, and closely held businesses, ensuring accuracy and full regulatory compliance
- Serve as a primary point of contact for a dedicated client portfolio, delivering proactive tax planning and strategic advisory services
- Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff and senior associates, providing timely feedback and supporting their professional growth
- Lead client onboarding and relationship management, fostering long-term partnerships built on trust and responsiveness
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities, including entity structuring, credits, and deductions
- Monitor and communicate changes in federal, state, and local tax legislation and assess impact on client engagements
- Coordinate with partners on workflow management, engagement planning, and billing oversight
- Ensure timely delivery of all client deliverables and adherence to firm quality standards
- Participate in business development activities including proposal preparation and networking
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, with focus in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA license required
- 4-8 years of public accounting experience with a focus in tax
- Demonstrated experience supervising and reviewing the work of tax staff
- Strong technical knowledge of federal and multi-state income tax for individuals and flow-through entities
- Excellent client service and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and the Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a client portfolio independently
- Familiarity with estate and gift taxation, or trust and estate returns
- Experience with tax planning for closely held businesses and their owners
- Track record of contributing to business development or client referrals
