We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Taxation Manager to manage and oversee all aspects of direct and indirect taxation in accordance with Pakistan’s tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of Income Tax, Sales Tax, Withholding Tax, and other statutory obligations, ensuring the company’s full compliance with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and relevant provincial tax authorities (PRA, SRB, KPRA, BRA).

The role requires strong analytical ability, accuracy, and sound judgment in handling complex tax matters, including return filings, audits, reconciliations, and advisory on tax planning and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file all periodic Income Tax Returns, Sales Tax Returns, and Withholding Tax Statements in compliance with FBR and provincial revenue authorities.
  • Ensure timely tax payments (advance tax, withholding, and indirect taxes).
  • Maintain accurate tax ledgers, challans, and reconciliations with FBR records.
  • Monitor and implement any updates or amendments in Pakistan’s Finance Acts and tax regulations.

Withholding Tax Management

  • Oversee proper deduction and deposit of withholding taxes on payments to suppliers, employees, and service providers.
  • Maintain detailed withholding tax registers and ensure accurate reporting on monthly and annual basis.
  • Review vendor tax compliance status and manage FBR Active Taxpayer List (ATL) verification.

Tax Planning & Advisory

  • Provide strategic tax planning and advisory to optimize tax efficiency within legal frameworks.
  • Advise management on potential tax exposures and recommend remedial actions.
  • Conduct impact analysis of Finance Bill/Act changes and brief management accordingly.

Sales Tax (FED & Provincial)

  • Ensure compliance with Sales Tax Act, 1990, Federal Excise Duty (FED), and relevant provincial sales tax laws.
  • Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns (FBR, PRA, SRB, KPRA).
  • Manage input-output tax reconciliations and ensure validity of tax invoices.

Tax Audit & Liaison

  • Handle tax audits, notices, and inquiries from FBR or provincial authorities.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, consultants, and legal advisors during tax assessments or appeals.
  • Represent the company before tax authorities when required.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports for management.
  • Maintain organized documentation and working papers for all tax filings.
  • Ensure all tax records are audit-ready and compliant with internal and statutory requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with finance, procurement, and HR teams to ensure correct tax treatment of all financial transactions.
  • Support ERP/accounting system setup for correct tax configuration and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
  • Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Economics.
  • CA / ACCA / ICMA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in taxation (preferably in Pakistan-based corporate or audit firm).
  • Strong command of Pakistan Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, Sales Tax Act, 1990, and provincial tax laws.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/accounting systems, and FBR e-portal / IRIS.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Ethical, detail-oriented, and proactive attitude.

Key Competencies

  • In-depth understanding of Pakistan’s tax framework and compliance ecosystem.
  • Ability to manage multiple tax jurisdictions (Federal & Provincial).
  • Experience in tax audit handling and advisory reporting.
  • Effective liaison skills with FBR, PRA, and other authorities.
  • Strategic thinker with focus on compliance, accuracy, and optimization.
