Duties

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote early childhood education, social skills, creativity, and physical development.
  • Manage classroom behavior using effective behavior management techniques to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety at all times through vigilant classroom management.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff to coordinate camp schedules, special events, and themed activities that enhance the summer experience.
  • Provide first aid when necessary and maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress, behavior, and camp updates.
  • Support children with special needs or individualized education plans (IEPs), applying principles of special education when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, tutoring, or childcare programs.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices in classroom management.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
  • Strong skills in behavior management, patience, and the ability to foster a nurturing environment.
  • Ability to engage children through creative play, arts and crafts, sports coaching, theater activities or other interactive methods.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with parents, colleagues, and campers.
