The purpose of this position is to plan, deploy, and maintain Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) transmission networks. The role involves hands-on expertise in fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and supervision of OFC construction activities.
Duties And Responsibilities
Plan, deploy, and maintain Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) transmission networks.
Perform fiber splicing, jointing, termination, and patching activities.
Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source (VFL) testing to ensure fiber quality.
Troubleshoot and resolve fiber cuts, attenuation issues, and transmission faults.
Supervise OFC route construction, duct laying, and aerial fiber installation.
Coordinate with civil teams, contractors, and vendors for OFC works.
Maintain accurate fiber route diagrams, splice reports, and test records.
Ensure compliance with telecom standards, safety procedures, and SLA requirements.
Support transmission equipment integration (DWDM, SDH, OTN, IP/MPLS as applicable).
Assist in network expansion, capacity planning, and restoration activities.
Job Specifications
Bachelor’s in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
5 to 8 years of relevant experience in transmission or optical fiber networks
Strong knowledge of Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) termination, splicing, and troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with:
OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer)
VFL (Visual Fault Locator)
Splicing Machines
In-depth understanding of optical fiber principles, link budgets, and transmission standards.
Ability to interpret fiber test results and identify root causes of network issues.
In-depth knowledge of MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
Knowledge of AutoCAD would be a plus.
Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
