Technical Assistant- City Engineering

Position: Technical Assistant

Department: Public Works- City Engineering

Salary: Range: $22.26 – $25.77/hour

Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible Part-time Position


Job Summary:

Under general supervision, provides assistance with general administrative and technical functions for the City Engineering Division within the Public Works Department.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Example of Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Process and enter all division invoices, check requests, and purchase orders into the financial record-keeping system.
  • Perform clerical duties, including typing, proofing, editing, formatting, copying, faxing, and distributing a variety of documents from rough drafts or verbal instruction.
  • Review City Council Staff Reports for grammar and spelling errors, route for approvals.
  • Review encroachment permits, including review of certificates of insurance.
  • Manage filing system and recording information as needed.
  • Perform records request searches of public record documents.
  • Manage division calendars and coordinate meeting requests.
  • Update paperwork, maintain documents and word processing.
  • Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail, handle incoming calls, and other communications.
  • Greet citizens and visitors, provide counter support.
  • Assist in the coordination of events as necessary.
  • Help organize and maintain office common areas.
  • Perform general office duties and run errands.
  • Maintain supply inventory.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with City staff and members of the public.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
