Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Technical Support Engineer with hands‑on experience in Point of Sale (POS) systems, retail backoffice platforms, and multi‑location IT infrastructure. You will be the escalation point for technical issues involving database sync failures, network outages between stores, POS peripheral malfunctions, and backoffice data integrity problems.
Key Responsibilities POS & Retail Environment
- Diagnose and resolve POS software issues (freezes, sync errors, printing failures, scanner/cash drawer problems).
- Troubleshoot receipt printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers, customer displays, and POS touchscreen calibration.
- Resolve offline mode vs online sync conflicts – ensure sales data is not lost when connectivity is restored.
- Guide store managers through end‑of‑day closure, Z‑report generation, and sales reconciliation when errors occur.
Backoffice & Server Infrastructure
- Troubleshoot backoffice applications (product management, inventory adjustments, pricing updates, customer loyalty).
- Investigate data mismatches between POS and backoffice (e.g., stock levels, sales totals, tax settings).
- Support MS SQL Server databases – check transaction logs, query performance, backup/restore, and scheduled jobs.
- Manage Windows Server roles: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, File Server, Remote Desktop Services.
- Act as final escalation point before development team – reproduce issues, gather logs, and provide clear technical summaries.
Required Skills & ExperienceMust‑have
- 5+ years in technical support, with at least 3 years focused on POS/retail systems.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), MS SQL Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
- Experience with remote support tools (RDP, TeamViewer, AnyDesk, or similar).
- Working knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, TCP/IP, VLANs in retail environments.
- Ability to explain technical issues to non‑technical retail managers (calm, clear, professional).
- Excellent spoken and written English – fluency as per your requirement.
Strongly preferred
- Experience with ERP integration (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or local ERPs).
- Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V) for backoffice servers.
- Previous work in a software house or retail tech provider.
Shift time: 7:00 PM - 4:00 AM
