Job Summary
Wichita Tribal Enterprises (WTE) is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support the Indian Health Service (IHS) Health IT Modernization Program. The Technical Writer will support the Program Management Office (PMO) by developing, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical and program documentation that supports project delivery and federal reporting requirements.
This role works under the direction of the Project Manager and collaborates closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), engineers, project managers, and program staff to produce documentation that supports program execution.
The Technical Writer will support the development of project deliverables, including Project Management Plans, Risk Management Plans, Change Management Procedures, Onboarding Manuals, Technical Presentations, Monthly Reports, PowerPoint Presentations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other documents to support project requirements and work products.
This is a remote position.
This position has an estimated ~90-day onboarding process.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, write, and edit technical and program documentation including Project Management Plans, Risk Management Plans, Change Management Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), onboarding materials, and monthly status reports.

Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), engineers, and program staff to gather technical information and produce accurate project documentation.

Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.

Perform editing and quality assurance reviews to ensure documentation meets standards for clarity, accuracy, grammar, formatting, and consistency.

Maintain document version control and ensure consistent formatting, structure, and style across all program deliverables.

Create PowerPoint presentations, charts, diagrams, and visual materials to support technical documentation and program reporting.

Manage and maintain documentation repositories, including organizing project deliverables within SharePoint or other document management systems.

Support program reporting and PMO documentation requirements while ensuring consistent messaging and presentation across all deliverables.
Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Technical Writing, or a related field.
Certifications are not required but may include:

Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC)

Project management training or certifications

Technical writing or editing certifications
Qualifications

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.

Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

3-5 years of Technical Writing Experience

Ability to write, edit, and format complex technical and program documentation.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including technical staff, program managers, and leadership.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.

Ability to read and interpret government contracts, statements of work, and program documentation.

Demonstrate the ability to work effectively across diverse, cross-functional teams of growth, operations, and corporate staff, and assigned technical experts

Follow style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, and AP Style

Write clearly and informatively and edit work as needed

Handle confidential information with discretion

Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Intermediate knowledge of Visio is preferred, not required
