Position Summary
The Technician – Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, modification, and repair of components, products, or structures using various tools, materials, and manufacturing processes. This role supports production, engineering, and maintenance teams by delivering high-quality fabricated parts that meet project specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication & Assembly
- Fabricate metal, plastic, or composite components using cutting, welding, machining, forming, and finishing processes.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Assemble products or sub-assemblies according to engineering specifications.
- Equipment Operation
- Safely operate fabrication machinery such as welders (MIG/TIG), plasma cutters, grinders, drill presses, saws, and CNC/Manual machines.
- Perform routine maintenance and setup on fabrication tools and equipment.
- Quality Control
- Inspect finished products to ensure conformity with specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Document fabrication work, measurements, and any deviations from prints.
- Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to support prototyping, custom builds, and repairs.
- Provide input to improve manufacturability, safety, and efficiency of designs and fabrication processes.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with workplace safety standards.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical trade school preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in fabrication, welding, machining, or a related field.
- Skills
- Strong knowledge of welding (MIG/TIG), metalworking, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Understanding of tolerances, measurement tools (calipers, micrometers), and quality practices.
