Technician - Mechanical

Job Purpose

To carry out repairs and maintenance on customer vehicles in line with manufacturer standards and work instructions, ensuring jobs are completed accurately, on time, and with the highest standards of safety and quality

Job Responsibilities

• Perform repairs according to manufacturer standards and comply with the Work Instructions Manual

• Ensure “Fix It Right First Time” (F1) standards are achieved

• Complete assigned jobs within the allocated time

• Provide timely feedback on additional repair needs to the Team Leader, Foreman, and Controller

• Inform the Team Leader/Foreman in advance of any potential delays

• Undertake overtime as required, based on workshop demands, at the request of the Team Leader/Foreman/Controller

• Record oils and consumables accurately on job cards

• Handle customer vehicles safely and with care

• Raise parts requisitions as necessary

• Complete warranty tags, attach them to warranty parts, and store them correctly in the warranty room

• Seek approval from the Team Leader/Foreman for additional repairs and warranty jobs

• Use protective covers on customer vehicles at all times

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area

• Strictly follow workshop safety procedures and SOPs, ensuring the use of all required safety gear (personal safety, equipment safety, and customer vehicle protection)

• Keep overalls and safety shoes clean and in proper condition

• Ensure all materials drawn on job cards are used only for the designated vehicle

Educational Qualifications

• 2-year ITI in Automobile, or

• 3-year Diploma in Automobile/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent

Work Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an automotive dealership, including at least 2 years as a technician

Competencies

• Strong technical and mechanical repair skills

• Physical fitness to perform repair tasks effectively

• Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

• Ability to follow safety standards and work procedures diligently

Languages

• Proficiency in English (spoken and written)

• Knowledge of additional languages will be an advantage
