Telecom Commissioning Engineer-MPLS/IP

Job Summary

Responsible for installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of IP/MPLS-based telecom systems, including routers, switches, and related network elements. The role involves integrating IP/MPLS equipment with control and protection systems, validating end-to-end performance, and ensuring successful service migration and acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission IP/MPLS routers and switches, primarily Huawei NetEngine 8000E series, ensuring full functionality of backbone and access nodes.
• Perform detailed IP/MPLS configuration including OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS LDP, Segment Routing (SR), QoS, VPN (L2/L3), and multicast services.
• Validate routing and label-switched path (LSP) operations, redundancy, and end-to-end service reachability.
• Conduct functional and performance testing for teleprotection, SCADA, RTU, and data services over MPLS infrastructure.
• Verify synchronization, timing, and network convergence parameters in accordance with design requirements.
• Coordinate with Network SMEs for service provisioning, integration, and troubleshooting of Huawei network elements.
• Support migration of services from legacy SDH/PDH networks to MPLS/IP-based networks, ensuring seamless continuity and minimal disruption.
• Perform software upgrade, configuration backup, and NMS integration during commissioning.
• Prepare detailed commissioning and test reports, including configuration logs and acceptance records.
• Support FAT, SAT, and final network acceptance testing.
• Ensure all commissioning works follow project standards for installation quality, labeling, grounding, and safety compliance.
• Oversee documentation, as-built drawings, and commissioning reports related to telecom network and systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of IP/MPLS technologies including OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS LDP, Segment Routing (SR), VPN (L2/L3), QoS, and multicast.
• Hands-on experience with Huawei NetEngine 8000E series routers and VRP (Versatile Routing Platform) operating system.
• Familiar with synchronization and timing technologies (IEEE 1588v2, SyncE).
• Skilled in network configuration, verification, and troubleshooting using Huawei commissioning tools and CLI.
• Huawei certification preferred. Additional certifications like CCNA/CCNP, NRS-I/II are considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of Nokia IP/MPLS platforms and configuration environment is considered advantageous.
• Strong documentation, analytical, and coordination abilities.
• UAE driving license is mandatory.

Experience:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in commissioning, testing, and integration of IP/MPLS networks in utility, power, or critical infrastructure projects.
• Proven hands-on experience in Huawei IP/MPLS deployments, including configuration, routing validation, and service provisioning on NetEngine 8000E series.
• Practical exposure to NMS integration, software upgrades, and network acceptance testing (FAT/SAT).
• Demonstrated ability to analyze network performance, troubleshoot complex routing issues, and support service migration activities.
