What You Will Do:

Qualities of the candidate:

Main Duties of the position

  • Test structural materials in a laboratory setting
  • Review quality control plans, shop drawings, and material certification documents
  • Provide test results to suppliers
  • Assist with various projects and visit material suppliers

Qualifications
4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in engineering related technical experience in construction/rehabilitation/maintenance projects or planning & design of civil engineering projects or materials testing, with experience to be commensurate with position to be filled. Note: the official position description on file with the Ohio Department Of Administrative Services is to reflect, in the minimum acceptable characteristics, the required technical experience. Only those applicants possessing the required technical experience listed in the position description are to be considered for any vacancies posted. The vacancy/job posting should also only list the required technical experience commensurate with the position in question.

  • Or completion of associate degree program in engineering technology; 2 yrs. engineering related technical experience in construction/rehabilitation/maintenance or planning & design of civil engineering projects or materials testing, with experience commensurate with position to be filled.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one year probationary period.

The selection process for this position will include a structured interview. Candidate responses to the interview questions will be scored and the selection will be made in accordance with the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract.

Background Check:

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
