Transporter | Casual | Days

This is a Casual position with availability between 5:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Candidates must be able to work every other weekend and every other holiday.

About the Role:
As a Transporter, you play a vital role in delivering safe, timely, and compassionate care by ensuring patients, equipment, and supplies are transported efficiently throughout the hospital. You’ll work closely with nursing staff and clinical teams while maintaining a professional, patient‑focused approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently transport patients and necessary equipment between nursing units, treatment areas, and other designated locations.
  • Deliver supplies, equipment, medications, and other materials accurately and on time; ensure proper medication handoff with nursing staff.
  • Perform routine inspections and cleaning/disinfecting procedures on all transportation equipment.
  • Accurately document transportation activity using the Transport Tracking System and/or required logs and forms.
  • Monitor and report transportation status, delays, or unusual activities to the supervising manager.
  • Maintain a courteous, professional demeanor and communicate respectfully with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and team members at all times.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to safely and successfully complete transport duties.
  • Ability to operate patient transport equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • May work in areas where medications are stored and may transport medications as part of patient transport; medication transport is limited to movement between departments.
  • Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Professional communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, based on American Heart Association (AHA) standards, including both didactic and hands‑on skills demonstration, within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 31 – Child Abuse Reporting clearance (with renewal).
  • Act 33 – Pennsylvania Criminal History Clearance (with renewal).
  • Act 34 – Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance (with renewal).
  • Act 73 – FBI Criminal Background Check (with renewal).
