Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring at least 2 years of acute care ED experience, an active IL RN license, and mandatory float flexibility across Cook County facilities.

Details

  • Night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required (approximately 2 weekends per month)
  • This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float to any Cook County facility at the facility's discretion, up to 50 miles from the home facility
  • Float assignments may be outside of the clinician's primary area of competency; a team-based care model is used in those cases
  • Float notification may be given as little as 2 hours before a shift
  • Charting is performed in Cerner
  • Paid parking is available in an adjacent garage (~2-3 min walk to the hospital entrance) for $5 per entry

Requirements

  • Active Illinois (IL) RN license currently in hand — pending licensure is not accepted
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required; PALS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in an Emergency Department setting
  • Must reside within 75 miles of the facility

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care in a fast-paced ED environment
  • COVID vaccination (initial series) is required — no exceptions; booster is not required
  • RTO is capped at 5 days per contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
  • RTO on weekends will not be approved
  • No RTO on holidays, or the day before or after a holiday
  • No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated
  • Navy blue scrubs are required and are not provided by the facility
  • Local candidates are accepted and preferred
