Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PICU position at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Chicago, IL, requiring 2+ years of PICU experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Position is based in a Pediatric ICU (PICU) at a Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend (approximately 2 weekends per month) is required
  • This is a mandatory float facility — all travelers are required to float at the facility's discretion, potentially to units outside their primary area of competency and to other Cook County facilities within 50 miles
  • Charting is performed in Cerner
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required — pending licensure is not accepted
  • Current certifications required: BLS and PALS
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma Center experience preferred given the work environment
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Travelers may receive float notification as little as 2 hours before their shift; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
  • When floated outside primary competency, a team-based care model is utilized
  • RTO is capped at 5 days total for the contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
  • No RTO will be approved on weekends, on holidays, or the day before or after a holiday
  • Proof of COVID vaccination is required — no exceptions (booster not required)
  • Scrubs may be any color
  • Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are accepted and preferred — contact for local rate details
  • No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated
