Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Hospice position in South Portland, ME, requiring a valid ME or compact RN license and at least 1 year of hospice experience.

Details

  • Home care and hospice setting serving patients in their private residences across the South Portland territory
  • Patient population includes oncology, dementia/Alzheimer's, end-stage CHF/COPD, and end-stage neurological conditions (ALS, MS, Parkinson's)
  • Average census of 85–90 patients for the South Portland office
  • Case manager caseload averages 15–20 patients
  • Schedule is Monday through Friday business hours (8 AM–5 PM) with weekend and on-call rotation
  • Weekend rotation is typically once or twice a month depending on staffing
  • Overnight on-call rotation (5 PM–8 AM) is typically once or twice a month but may be more depending on staffing
  • Floating to other agency locations may be required if the South Portland territory census is low
  • EMR: Netsmart
  • IV pumps provided through vendor

Requirements

  • Active RN license for the State of Maine (ME license or compact license required)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Valid driver's license required; must use own personal vehicle to travel between patient homes
  • Minimum 1 year of hospice experience required
  • Full SSN required for consideration
  • 2 professional references within the past year required, with at least one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Director (Charge Nurse acceptable; peer references not accepted)
  • Copies of all current certifications required for consideration
  • Driver's license copy required for consideration
  • Has not previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity

Additional Information

  • Provides in-home hospice case management, traveling between patient homes throughout the South Portland service territory
  • Supported by a scheduling team, Clinical Manager, and Lead Support Team
  • Orientation is 1–2 weeks
  • Holiday coverage required when assignment aligns with major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)
  • Flu vaccination required for clearance; medical exemptions are accepted but must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance for committee review
  • Dress code is business casual or scrubs; no specific color requirement
  • First-time travelers will be considered only if they have hospice experience
  • Permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME to be eligible; candidates living 100+ miles north are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • All RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration
  • Manager interviews required
