Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance coverage, and gather necessary medical and dental history information.
- Explain treatment plans clearly, answer patient questions, and discuss financial options to promote understanding and comfort.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflows.
- Verify insurance benefits, process claims accurately using CPT and ICD coding standards, and handle billing inquiries with professionalism.
- Review patient records for completeness, ensuring all documentation aligns with HIPAA regulations and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate medical and dental records within EMR systems like Meditech, Epic, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring data integrity at all times.
- Assist with administrative tasks including filing, phone etiquette, multi-line phone system management, and managing patient intake forms.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental office or clinic environment with familiarity in dental terminology and medical billing procedures.
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms; experience with Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is a plus.
- Proficiency in medical coding including CPT, ICD-9/10 codes; understanding of Medicare guidelines is advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle medical administrative support tasks such as insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and documentation review efficiently.
- Adept at using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with typing skills including 10-key typing for data entry accuracy.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and health information management practices to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
