Truck Dispatcher

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Truck Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the daily movement of freight and fleet operations. In this vital role, you will serve as the communication hub between drivers, clients, and logistics teams, ensuring timely deliveries and efficient route planning. Your expertise in transportation management systems, GPS technology, and logistics analysis will drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

• Assign and dispatch trucks efficiently using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to optimize routes and delivery schedules.
• Monitor real-time GPS data and GIS tools to track vehicle locations, ensure compliance with transportation planning, and adjust routes as needed for delays or emergencies.
• Communicate clearly with drivers via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette while providing instructions, updates, and support.
• Coordinate freight pickups, deliveries, shipping & receiving activities, ensuring accuracy in data entry and documentation.
• Collaborate with supply chain teams to plan transportation logistics, manage fleet management tasks, and support 3PL (third-party logistics) operations for seamless freight movement.
• Utilize analysis skills to evaluate transportation performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement process enhancements.
• Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, incident reports, inbound/outbound logs, and asset protection documentation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in dispatching within transportation or logistics environments; familiarity with freight operations is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of transportation management systems
• Proficiency in GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and transportation planning software to facilitate efficient routing.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally while maintaining high levels of phone etiquette.
• Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating logistics data and making informed decisions that improve efficiency.
• Experience with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and 3PL coordination.
• Ability to perform data entry accurately while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
