Job Overview

Fast-growing local pickup and delivery carrier in the Harrisburg area is seeking an organized and resourceful Local Truck Dispatcher to manage our daily local pickup and delivery routes. You will serve as the primary link between our local drivers and customers, optimizing schedules, managing tight windows, and solving traffic or delivery bottlenecks in real time to ensure seamless regional operations.

Duties

• Route Scheduling: Plan and assign daily local pickup and delivery routes for our fleet of trucks.
• Driver Communication: Maintain continuous contact with drivers to monitor progress and provide route alterations.
• Customer Support: Answer customer inquiries regarding pickup ETAs, tracking requests, and delivery confirmation.
• Issue Resolution: Solve daily operational challenges like traffic delays, missed windows, and mechanical breakdowns.
• System Updates: Log all real-time shipment updates and rate structures into our Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Compliance Checks: Ensure all assigned drivers adhere to safety protocols and local hours-of-service rules.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1–3 years of dispatching or logistics experience, preferably in local, short-haul, or final-mile delivery.
• Local Geography: Excellent knowledge of the local area, highways, and common bottleneck zones.
• Tech Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, dispatch platforms, TMS tools, and GPS tracking software.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal communication and conflict-resolution capabilities under high pressure.
• Multitasking: Strong organizational skills to manage phone lines, radios, and multiple software dashboards simultaneously.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
