The Student and On-Call Staffing Coordinator oversees and administers human resource functions for all student and on-call team members for units within the Division of Residential & Hospitality Services (RHS). Serves as a resource to department administrators and a liaison to central MSU Human Resources to manage and coordinate activities and interpret and implement human resources policies, procedures, and practices related to student and on-call employment. Supervises a team of Unit Human Resources Coordinators to ensure student and on-call staffing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner and in compliance with university, state, federal hiring guidelines.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community. Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in designing and implementing training programs and human resource/labor relations management and computer applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Human Resource experience in a university setting; experience using HR-related systems (EBS and PeopleAdmin software) and employment policies and practices currently used by MSU Human Resources is desired but not required; experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds; ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments and multiple social identities; demonstrated skills of leadership and communication, maturity, a well-developed sense of responsibility, sensitivity to individual differences, and an understanding of how to promote student learning and academic success; and interest and enthusiasm for working with students.
