URD Laborer

Bay Line Construction is seeking to fill the position of a URD Laborer . Bay Line Construction is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground electrical distribution construction.

Description of general duties (but not limited to):

URD Laborers are responsible for assisting in the installation and maintenance of electrical power systems. URD Laborers must comply with OSHA safety regulations, frequently working in precarious conditions.

You will report to the crew foreman, operator, lineman, or lineman apprentice as needed on your assigned crew. The tasks that you will perform vary and typically include assisting with installation, replacement, maintenance, or repairs of electrical equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Will be responsible for placing conduit and/or cables in trenches, splicing conduit sections (install couplers) as directed, pedestals, transformers, etc. to complete construction tasks
• Assist in the loading/unloading of equipment, materials and supplies needed for daily work
• Hand dig with shovels, picks, digging bars to expose located utilities, access U/G vaults and pedestals, and complete trenches
• Fully restore worksites after completion of work; refill trenches and holes, tamp soil, replant any plants or shrubs that were disturbed during our construction, place temporary asphalt patches on streets where excavations have been performed
• Clean and maintain all company vehicles, tools and equipment assigned for use
• When assisting Overhead Crews, Laborers may be required to perform groundman operations such as: hand line operation, organizing materials, cleaning worksite, etc.
• Operate equipment such as excavator, skid steer, etc.
• Other duties may be assigned consistent with job description

Physical Requirments:

• OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): Sitting, Kneeling, and Crawling
• FREQUENT (up to 66 %): Stooping, Squatting, Body Twisting, Manual Dexterity, Reading, Climbing Ladders, Climbing On/Off Truck, Climbing Poles, Gripping, and Climbing Stairs
• CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): Standing, Walking, Sense of Touch, Speaking Clearly, Seeing Distant, Seeing, Reaching, Range of Motion, Hearing-Speech Range, Depth Perception, Color Vision, Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting Over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., Balancing, Lifting Up to 10 lbs., and Lifting Up to 50 lbs.
• Capable of working in all temperatures and climates

Schedule

• 10 hour shift
• Day shift 6AM to 4:30PM
• Monday to Thursday

Location

This position requires in person attendance and the ability to commute/relocate to corporate office in Georgetown, DE 19947

Successful Candidates must be able to reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Requirements

• Must possess valid Class A CDL
• Must have clean driving record
• Must be able to pass pre-employment background and drug screening
• Can pass pre-employment fit for duty exam
• Not a qualified climber
• Not qualified to work on energized equipment
