General Description of Position
Under the general direction and supervision of the Administrative Director of Marketing and Communications, the Video Producer is responsible for conceptualizing, filming, editing, and producing video content that enhances the college’s brand and supports strategic marketing initiatives. The Video Producer develops compelling visual narratives that showcase student success, campus life, academic programs, and institutional achievements while maintaining brand consistency across all video projects. This is a full-time regular position.
Essential Functions
- Develop, plan, and produce high-quality video content for various platforms, including social media, website, digital advertising, and television, that aligns with the college’s brand standards and strategic marketing objectives.
- Script, storyboard, film, and edit video projects from conception to completion, ensuring all content meets professional standards and effectively communicates key messages.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to identify video opportunities that support recruitment, retention, advancement, and brand awareness goals.
- Conduct on-camera interviews with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to capture authentic stories that showcase the college’s impact.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive video content library that supports marketing initiatives and provides ready-to-use assets for various departments.
- Manage post-production processes, including editing, color correction, sound design, motion graphics, and final output to ensure professional quality across all video deliverables.
- Coordinate with campus departments to schedule video shoots while minimizing disruption to campus operations and maximizing production efficiency.
- Maintain video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and editing software; recommend equipment upgrades as needed.
- Train and supervise student workers and interns in video production techniques and best practices.
- Ensure all video content meets accessibility requirements, including proper captioning and audio descriptions.
- Develop and implement consistent visual styles and templates that reinforce brand identity across all video content.
- Track and analyze video performance metrics to inform future content strategy and production decisions.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in video production and content marketing.
- Participate in marketing strategy sessions and campaign planning to ensure effective integration of video content across all marketing channels.

Marginal Functions
- Occasionally, photograph campus events when dedicated photography resources are unavailable.
- Assist with website content updates related to video integration.
- May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.
- Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency with professional video production equipment and editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects).
- Knowledge of video production techniques, including but not limited to lighting, composition, sound recording, and editing.
- Ability to translate marketing objectives into compelling visual storytelling.
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of current video formats, codecs, and delivery specifications for various platforms.
- Experience with motion graphics and basic animation techniques.
- Understanding of accessibility requirements for video content.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, and on the phone.
- Ability to use basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds for short distances and move video equipment, lighting, and other production gear when necessary.
- The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Film, Video Production, Digital Media, Communications, or a directly related field.
- Two (2) years of professional video production experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in higher education video production.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong storytelling abilities and technical proficiency.
- Experience with multi-camera productions and live streaming.
- Knowledge of and experience with branded content creation.
- Experience in training and supervising student workers.
Benefits
SCC BEN Dollars – Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee’s paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).
Schedule
Normal working hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour work week, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
