Warehouse Assistant

• Order Retrieval: Using a handheld RF (Radio Frequency) scanner or a printed "pick slip" to locate specific items within the warehouse.
• Navigation: Moving through aisles (on foot or using a pallet jack) to reach the correct bin or rack location.
• Quality Check: Verifying that the item’s barcode, color, and size match the order exactly before removing it from the shelf.
• Inventory Accuracy: Reporting any missing items or damaged stock to supervisors to keep inventory counts correct.

The Packing Phase (The Prep)

• Secure Packaging: Selecting the right size box or mailer and using protective materials (bubble wrap, air pillows, or kraft paper) to prevent damage.
• Labeling: Sealing the package and applying the correct shipping labels and "fragile" or "heavy" stickers as needed.
• Documentation: Including packing slips or promotional materials inside the box before sealing.
• Weight Verification: Weighing packages to ensure they meet shipping carrier requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Physical Stamina: You must be comfortable standing and walking for the duration of an 8–10 hour shift and lifting weights typically up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Attention to Detail: Accuracy is the most critical metric. Sending the wrong item results in costly returns and unhappy customers.
• Speed & Efficiency: Most warehouses have "pick rates" or quotas (e.g., 100 items per hour) that staff are expected to meet.
• Tech Savvy: Ability to use basic warehouse software, handheld scanners, and digital scales.
• Basic Literacy & Math: Reading order forms and counting items quickly to ensure quantities are correct.

Work Environment & ExpectationsNote: This is a high-energy role. You will often work in a fast-paced, noisy environment alongside forklifts and conveyor belts.

• Shift Work: Many warehouses operate 24/7, meaning early morning, night, and weekend shifts are common.
• Safety First: You will likely be required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including steel-toed boots and high-visibility vests.
• Career Path: This is a classic entry-level role that leads directly to positions like Warehouse Lead, Inventory Specialist, or Logistics Coordinator.
