Weekday Dog Walker Eastside Suburbs

Overview
Around the Block Dog Walking & Pet Care, LLC is Building an Army of Pet Care Warriors in Cleveland, Ohio and we are hiring a Weekday Dog Walker to serve the eastern suburbs. We are looking for people who are available during daytime hours to provide dogs with a midday break.

Duties

• Engage with a variety of dogs of different ages, sizes and breeds
• Lead walks with a soft hand, compassion, fun, and safety
• Provide stimulation and potty breaks for pups when owners work, are disabled, elderly, busy, etc.
• Monitor dog behavior during walks, applying positive gentle animal handling techniques to prevent conflicts or injuries
• Give treats and praise to pups to support good behavior and ensure a positive experience
• Provide basic dog training commands to encourage good manners
• Assist with feeding, watering or administering medication if required
• Drive from one doggie client to the next according to a daily schedule based on client requests
• Pick up and dispose of dog waste
• Complete detailed report cards following each walk with personal notes, a map of the route walked, and photos or videos
• Respond promptly to emergency situations by contacting business owner, veterinary services and/or emergency responders when necessary

Skills/Requirements

• Prior experience working or volunteering with pets is highly preferred (pet sitting, dog walking, Rover, Care.com, Wag, pet stores, animal handling, veterinary offices, grooming, boarding/daycare/kennel facilities, shelters, rescue organizations, etc.)
• Availability during primetime weekday hours
• Skilled in understanding basic animal behavior, body language, basic dog training commands, and gentle animal restraint techniques to ensure safe interactions
• Familiarity with basic veterinary procedures, administering medication, and giving injections is a plus
• Superior reliability and understanding that animals are depending on you
• Comfort with diverse animals including all dog breeds as well as cats, birds, fish, small animals
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate honestly and effectively with pet owners and business owner
• Absolute trustworthiness in people's homes
• Ability to receive constructive feedback, take ownership and accountability, and make changes if necessary
• Physical ability to provide regular dog walks, handle large dogs, and tolerate adverse weather conditions
• Must have a reliable vehicle with appropriate car insurance and valid driver's license

Pay starts at $15 an hour plus tips and incentives. Additional income potential for overnight sitting at $60 per night.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40 per week
