Position Summary:

With direct guidance in a team environment, responsible for performing a variety of basic manufacturing support duties following well defined procedures and processes in one of the following functions. Actively contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Weld and Braze

  • Count WIP for total job count on daily basis, update day by hour boards, and audit electronic trigger board on weekly basis.

  • Set up stanchions tables using precision measuring instruments such as protractors and height gages.

  • Locate fixture location in database and operate fixture lift to retrieve fixture from shelves.

  • Pull job from rack, review the WIP paperwork to determine appropriate FIFO lane and place the job in the lane.

  • Support welders by assisting with moving or holding parts.

  • Provide caps and bags and cap and bag components.

NDT

  • Count whips for total job count, update day by hour boards, and log all jobs into NDT database on daily basis.

  • Audit electronic trigger board on weekly basis.

  • Box film, file film, stock chemicals, stock film and move jobs to next operation.

  • Perform thickness checks on buffed parts using Magnamike.

  • Work with Radiographers to process WIP corrections by taking the WIP to Engineering. Help Radiographers split jobs for processing by copying job packets.

  • Help change silver recovery columns.

  • Checks specs and acceptance methods when logging jobs into the computer. Prepares reports for Radiographers.

  • Support NDT personnel by assisting with moving jobs to next process.

Secondary Responsibilities/Non-Essential Functions:

  • Actively participates in lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.

  • Ensures all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedule.

  • Check fixtures for calibration and assuring they are not expired (Weld and Braze).

  • Maintains appropriate knowledge and ability levels to efficiently perform all assigned work and utilizes this knowledge base to become proficient on new/unfamiliar assignments

  • Observes all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintains a clean and foreign object damage (FOD) free work area. Maintains a satisfactory high level of performance.

Qualifications (relevant experience, education and training):

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 0-1 year of manufacturing experience in similar environment. Able to learn and apply the techniques presented and work with in a team environment.

  • Demonstrates product and process knowledge by applying it to newly learned techniques.

  • Able to select appropriate procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment.

  • Able to read and understand blueprints, route sheets, and test specifications. Perform basic mathematical calculations, as well as demonstrate effective verbal, written, and basic computer skills.

  • Possess strong mechanical reasoning.

  • Able to implement and effectively apply lean initiatives.

  • Possess effective interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Able to use employee self-service to access on-line information and use specialized automated systems (i.e. PMR, TORS, electronic trigger board, e-mail).

  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

  • May be required to present production information to other team members and management.

Typical Mental and Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to frequently remain in a stationary position. The team member is frequently required to move about inside the plant to transport parts. The employee is occasionally required to reposition him/herself to operate equipment or move about parts and materials. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others. May be required to move parts or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds across the shop floor. Employees in this job frequently are exposed to Argon Gas.
