Overview
EnclaveJoy Ride is seeking a reliable and professional Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver to operate wheelchair-accessible vans. The role delivers safe, timely, and courteous transportation for patients and clients requiring non-emergency medical travel. Prior wheelchair-van experience is not required — comprehensive training provided. This is a paid position that supports community health and well-being
Duties
- Safely operate wheelchair-accessible vans, shuttles, or cars to transport passengers to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and other destinations.
- Assist passengers with boarding, securement of mobility devices, and disembarking while ensuring comfort and safety.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform basic checks (fueling, inspections); report mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, healthcare facilities, and passengers to coordinate schedules and address special needs.
- Provide excellent customer service — courteous, respectful, and attentive to passenger needs.
- Assist with heavy lifting when necessary (mobility devices, luggage) while following safe-lifting procedures.
- Maintain accurate trip records, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance documentation as required.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with F-Endorsement or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a clean driving record.
- Experience in delivery driving, shuttle, or bus/paratransit driving preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including safe heavy lifting.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and ability to identify/report issues.
- CPR/First Aid certification and DOT physical certificate are a plus, but not required.
- Ability to follow detailed routes and schedules while maintaining safety standards.
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
