Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney (Associate or Senior)

Matian Law Group is progressive California defense firm focused on Workers’ Compensation. We’re a tech forward practice trusted by large employers and TPAs for litigation, training, and advocacy. We’re hiring an Associate or Senior attorney ready to litigate aggressively and manage complex files.

What You’ll Do

• Appear at WCAB proceedings (MSC, Priority Conferences, Trials, etc.).
• Take and defend depositions; conduct cross-examinations of physicians (PTP/PQME/AME).
• Draft trial briefs, petitions (incl. reconsiderations), discovery, and client advisories.
• Analyze med-legal reports, PD ratings, AMA Guides, and applicable regulations.
• Manage a dedicated caseload; lead case strategy and client communications.
• Run conference calls and provide timely legal updates per firm requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Active California Bar; in good standing
• Excellent written and oral advocacy.
• Workers’ Compensation Defense background:
• Associate (1–4 years): hearing/depo experience with strong growth trajectory.
• Senior (5+ years): first-chair trial experience; petitions for reconsideration; physician cross-exams.
• Mastery of AMA Guides, California Labor Code, WCAB rules and procedures.
• Tech-forward: comfortable with modern workflows and effective with AI/legal-tech tools.
• Client-focused, proactive, and accountable for results.

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-Time Senior: $170,000+ DOE salary.
• Associates & Part-Time: Competitive, DOE; part-time compensation prorated.
• Benefits: Full benefits package for full-time employees.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
