Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant

IFMK Law is seeking a full-time Workers’ Compensation Legal Assistant with at least 2 years of law firm and legal assistance experience to join our Indianapolis office.

The ideal candidate must be able to learn and adapt quickly, able to efficiently work independently to assist multiple attorneys with their daily workloads.

Duties:

  • Manage all administrative tasks for 3-4 assigned attorneys including but not limited to: formatting, proofreading, and emailing correspondence to clients and opposing counsels; copying, scanning and e-faxing various documents; preparing and filing legal documents (i.e. motions, contracts, subpoenas, decisions, complaints and briefs) electronically via CompFile and Odyssey; scheduling and drafting notices for depositions and independent medical evaluations;
  • Managing calendar for assigned attorneys including setting calendar reminders and follow-up; organizing and maintaining case materials and journal all case activity in the case management system (Practice Master), billing for appearances and subpoenas pursuant to specific client guidelines, closing case files upon resolution; assisting with travel accommodations and reservations; chronologizing medical records, organizing case materials; coordinating maintenance and repairs of office equipment when necessary; assisting with answering incoming telephone calls and distribution of mail; and other administrative tasks/special projects as needed.

Required Experience: At least 2 years of Legal Assistant experience, 2 years of Law Firm experience and, 2 years of Microsoft Office experience.

  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Adobe
  • Exceptional time-management and organizations skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to pay attention to details
  • Ability to grasp and interpret legal documents

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana Office

Schedule: Monday – Friday (37.5 hours – hybrid schedule). Must be able to commute to Indianapolis office 3 days per week.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
