Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week NICU night shift contract in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of adult acute care respiratory experience.
Details
- Position is based in the Respiratory Therapy department of an acute care hospital in Austin, TX
- NICU-focused assignment with adult acute care respiratory responsibilities
- Caseload is volume-based, approximately 35–40 patients per shift rather than a fixed patient ratio
- Equipment used includes GE ventilators, V60 BiPAPs, and Airvo HFNC
- EMR system is Meditech
- Night shift hours: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Rotating weekend schedule with approximately 4 weekend shifts per month
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RRT credential required; license required if applicable
- Minimum 1 year of adult respiratory experience in an acute care setting
- Must have worked in the specialty within the last 6 months
- Active ACLS and NRP certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted); certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Typical procedures include nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy (CPT), arterial blood gas collection, ventilator management, inhaled nitric oxide administration, bronchoscopy assistance, intubation assistance, and in-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients (e.g., to CT/MRI)
- Adult critical care experience (ICU or ED) is preferred
- Works alongside a supervisor and 7–9 staff members per shift within a department of approximately 50 total staff
- Strong collaboration skills across the RT department and other hospital disciplines are valued
- Scrub color requirement: olive green tops and black pants
