Position: AutoCAD 2D Drafter

Department: Engineering / Design

Reports To: Project Engineer / Architect / Structural Engineer

Job Summary

An AutoCAD 2D Drafter is responsible for preparing accurate architectural and structural drawings using AutoCAD software, supporting engineers and architects in project design. The role includes maintaining technical specifications, preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and ensuring drawings follow project standards and construction requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare 2D architectural and structural drawings using AutoCAD.

Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings.

Convert concept sketches and design calculations into technical drawings.

Assist engineers and architects in project design and drafting updates.

Prepare and maintain Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for construction projects.

Ensure drawings comply with design specifications, building codes, and standards.

Maintain drawing records, revisions, and documentation.

Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and quality control.

Coordinate with project engineers, architects, and site teams for drawing updates.

Update drawings according to site modifications and client requirements.

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of AutoCAD 2D drafting

Understanding of architectural and structural drawings

Ability to prepare BOQ and material quantity take-offs

Knowledge of construction materials and building standards

Good technical documentation and specification preparation skills

Attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Civil Engineering / Architecture / Drafting Technology

1–3+ years experience in architectural or structural drafting

Experience with construction drawings and BOQ preparation

Software Skills

AutoCAD (2D Drafting)

Microsoft Excel (for BOQ)

Microsoft Word / documentation
