Job Purpose
The Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations of the restaurant, including accurate bookkeeping, cost control, revenue tracking, payroll processing, and financial reporting. The role ensures compliance with local regulations and supports management in making informed business decisions to maintain profitability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Monitor sales, revenue, and expenses, ensuring accuracy between POS, bank, and accounting records.
- Conduct variance analysis between budgeted and actual performance.
- Ensure timely closing of accounts (monthly, quarterly, annually).
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process supplier invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Reconcile bank statements and cash deposits daily.
Cost & Inventory Control
- Track food and beverage costs, monitor wastage, and support cost-control initiatives.
- Collaborate with purchasing and storekeepers to ensure accurate stock counts and valuations.
- Analyze inventory variances and highlight discrepancies to management.
Payroll & Compliance
- Process employee payroll in coordination with HR.
- Calculate overtime, benefits, and statutory deductions.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, VAT, and labor laws.
Internal Controls & Audits
- Implement strong internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and records in compliance with accounting standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the restaurant / F&B / hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and local tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, Oracle, SAP) and MS Excel.
- Experience with POS systems and restaurant operations is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
