Accountant Payables

JOB PURPOSE: To support the organization’s Payables team by accurately processing supplier invoices, petty cash claims, corporate credit card claims and other financial transactions. The role ensures timely reconciliations, compliance with internal controls, and the integrity of accounts payable data in line with the Group policies & procedures and compliance to International Financial Reporting standards (IFRS) and International accounting standards (IAS).

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Financial Transaction Processing and Documentation: Handle the recording of supplier invoices promptly and accurately to support on-time payment cycles and maintain strong supplier relationships. Process and verify petty cash/corporate credit card claims in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and proper supporting documentation. Organize and maintain financial records, including supplier statements, invoices, and reconciliation reports. Manage all types of group insurance activities, including invoice recording, inter-group expense allocation, and continuous updating of insurance schedules across the group. Oversee fixed asset processes at the group level, including additions, disposals, and transfers. Ensure the Asset Management System (AMS) and Fixed Asset Register (FAR) remain fully reconciled and that all assets are properly tagged.

Reconciliation and Accuracy Assurance: Regularly reconcile supplier accounts to ensure accurate payable balances and timely resolution of discrepancies. Perform routine reconciliation of assigned GL accounts to verify posting accuracy and address variances quickly. Collaborate with suppliers, business units, and other internal stakeholders to investigate and clear reconciliation issues within required timelines.

Month-End and Periodic Closing Activities: Assist in preparing and posting period-end journal entries to ensure the accurate and timely closing of books. Carry out bank reconciliations and intercompany account reconciliations as part of the regular closing cycle to maintain reliable financial data.

Compliance, Reporting, and Other Responsibilities: Ensure all accounting activities follow internal control procedures and organizational financial policies. Provide complete and accurate documentation to support internal and external audit requirements and financial reviews. Undertake any additional accounting or administrative responsibilities assigned by the line manager to support departmental objectives.
