South Dakota State University’s (SDSU) Academic Shared Service Center (ASSC) is seeking a detail‑oriented, customer‑focused individual to join our team as a part‑time Accounting Assistant. This position supports the ASSC Finance team by assisting with the processing of financial transactions for the six colleges served by the Academic Shared Service Center. This position also offers 18 hours per week with highly flexible scheduling. This role is ideal for someone looking to balance work with school, family, or other commitments.

The Academic Shared Service Center (ASSC) provides financial and administrative support to a variety of academic units across campus. Our team works closely with the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, College of Education & Human Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Pharmacy & Allied Health Professions, and College of Nursing to help ensure smooth and efficient operations. By delivering timely, accurate, and professional services, the ASSC enables these colleges to focus on their instructional, research, and service missions.
This position is located in Brookings, SD.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Job Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for helping the ASSC Finance team process financial transactions for the six colleges served by the Academic Shared Service Center.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
  • Computer software and systems (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • General accounting practices
  • Customer service practices



Skill & Ability to:
  • Prioritize and organize a variety of tasks simultaneously and effectively
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff and outside agencies
  • Communicate information clearly, concisely and accurately
