A privately held commercial and industrial mechanical contracting firm headquartered in Escondido, California, is seeking a hands-on Accounting Clerk to support daily accounting operations in a fast-paced construction environment. This role is central to keeping financial processes running smoothly, managing AR, AP, collections, payroll support, and administrative coordination, while working closely with a long-tenured Controller who values mentorship and teamwork. Salary Range:
$60,000 - $67,000 / Year DOE
Accounting Clerk Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle Accounts Receivable, including billing and collections

Process and maintain accurate Accounts Payable

Support and oversee payroll processing

Track and maintain job-related paperwork and documentation

Assist with safety training documentation and compliance tracking

Maintain organized filing systems and financial records

Order office supplies and assist with light administrative tasks as needed

Provide day-to-day accounting support in a small, collaborative team environment
Accounting Clerk Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

Accounts Payable experience in Construction

2+ years of Accounts Receivable and collections experience

Construction industry experience required

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to handle both accounting and administrative responsibilities

Comfortable working fully onsite (no remote or hybrid)

Positive, no-ego attitude with willingness to support team needs

Experience with Sage 300 preferred
