Accounting Specialist Part Time

Job Description

This is a Part Time Position that will eventually become a Full Time Position. The Accounting Specialist supports daily financial operations by maintaining accurate accounting records, processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, and assisting with reconciliations and reporting. This position ensures accuracy and efficiency in all accounting functions and works closely with the Accounting team to support company operations and financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner.

• Verify invoices, match purchase orders, and ensure proper coding to general ledger accounts.

• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.

• Assist with weekly check runs, ACH payments, and credit card reconciliations.

• Prepare bank deposits and reconcile daily cash activity.

• Maintain organized digital and physical records for invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation.

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Support payroll and job costing processes as needed.

• Assist with financial reporting, audit requests, and other accounting projects as assigned.

• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper documentation and coding of expenses.

• Maintain confidentiality and uphold company financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction or a similar industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Sage 300 CRE).
• Experience with invoice matching, reconciliations, and data entry accuracy.
• Team-oriented mindset with a high degree of integrity and discretion.

• Mobility: Ability to move within the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Visual Acuity: Ability to view computer screens for extended periods and read detailed documents.
• Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Lifting: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, such as boxes of documents or office supplies.
