Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist

Location: Nashville, TN (hybrid)

Job Type: Contract to hire

Compensation: $25.00 - $27.00 / Hour

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).


About the Role:

We are partnering with a growing and well-established organization seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their finance team. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The AP Specialist will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments while maintaining strong internal and external relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process high-volume vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts (2-way/3-way matching)
  • Review and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Prepare and execute weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments
  • Maintain vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries
  • Reconcile accounts payable ledger to general ledger
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
  • Support audits by providing required documentation


Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables a plus)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience in a high-volume or shared services environment
  • Exposure to automated invoice processing tools
