Job Summary
An Arabic Sweets Chef specializes in preparing, baking, and presenting traditional Middle Eastern desserts with authenticity, consistency, and high quality. The chef ensures all sweets are prepared according to traditional recipes while maintaining hygiene and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce traditional Arabic sweets such as:
- Baklava
- Kunafa (Knafeh)
- Basbousa
- Maamoul
- Qatayef
- Halawet El Jibn
- Luqaimat
- Prepare syrups (attar), fillings, creams, and dough from scratch.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure consistency.
- Decorate and present sweets attractively for display and events.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen.
- Manage inventory of ingredients (nuts, semolina, ghee, sugar, cheese, etc.).
- Ensure proper storage of raw materials and finished products.
- Train junior pastry staff if required.
- Develop new recipes or improve existing ones while preserving authenticity.
- Follow food safety and health regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Arabic Sweets Chef or Pastry Chef.
- Strong knowledge of traditional Middle Eastern desserts.
- Expertise in handling dough, syrups, nuts, and specialty cheeses.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and consistency.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Culinary diploma or certification (preferred but not mandatory).
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Ability to stand for long hours.
- Early morning or late shift flexibility.
- Work in high-temperature kitchen environments.
- May be required to work weekends and holidays.
