Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your accounting skills within a reputable organization dedicated to excellence and integrity. As an Assistant Accountant, you will support various financial functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance while contributing to the smooth operation of our financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Support the reconciliation of accounts such as bank statements, general ledger accounts, and sub-ledgers using QuickBooks online.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and efficiently, including invoice entry and payment processing.
  • Help maintain general ledger integrity through journal entries, account analysis, and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
  • Participate in month-end closing activities, including accruals, adjustments, and financial report writing.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting requirements and ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards where applicable.
  • Support internal audits by preparing documentation and conducting account reconciliations; mentor junior team members in best accounting practices.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, accrual accounting, and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks online; experience with Microsoft Excel for data analysis is essential.
  • Knowledge of GAAP standards and regulatory reporting requirements; familiarity with SOX compliance is a plus.
  • Experience in corporate accounting environments preferred.
  • Ability to interpret financial reports and perform financial analysis; experience with budgeting and forecasting is advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and mentoring less experienced staff.
  • Experience in Human Resources a plus.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
