Assistant Manager - Costing

Karachi, Pakistan

To ensure accurate product costing, support pricing decisions, monitor cost control measures, and contribute to financial planning through effective cost analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities1. Product Costing & Standard Cost Maintenance

  • Calculate and maintain standard costs for products.
  • Analyze variances between actual and standard costs.
  • Update bill of materials (BOMs) and routing data in ERP.
  • Conduct cost simulations for new products and provide cost estimates.

2. Cost Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly cost reports including cost of goods manufactured (COGM) and cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead cost trends.
  • Support decision-making with profitability and margin analysis by product, customer, or segment.
  • Present cost data insights to management for cost control initiatives.

3. Inventory Valuation & Control

  • Perform monthly inventory valuation and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with stores and production teams for inventory audits.
  • Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory.

4. Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in annual budgeting and periodic forecasting related to cost components.
  • Participate in variance analysis (budget vs actual) and root cause analysis.

5. Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/GAAP), internal policies, and cost accounting standards.
  • Support internal and statutory audits with required costing data and reconciliations.

6. ERP & Systems

  • Work with SAP for cost-related data entry and reporting.
  • Support implementation and enhancement of cost modules.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with production, procurement, and finance teams.

Qualifications

  • ACCA / CMA / MBA (Finance) preferred.
  • 4–6 years of experience in a costing or financial analysis role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs160,000.00 - Rs180,000.00 per month
