The Ghassan Aboud Holding company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Finance Manager to join our pharmaceutical distribution and pharmacy business in the UAE.


Purpose of the Job:

The Assistant Finance Manager will manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations for Gaelan’s pharmaceutical distribution business and retail pharmacy outlets. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with UAE regulations, cost control, inventory accounting, and timely support to commercial and operations teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate books of accounts for the distribution business and all pharmacy outlets.
  • Record daily transactions including sales, purchases, expenses, and inventory movements.
  • Reconcile general ledger, sub-ledgers, and intercompany accounts.
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
  • Prepare financial reports including P&L, Balance Sheet, cash flow, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare annual budget in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Manage daily sales reconciliation from POS systems across all pharmacy branches.
  • Track credit sales, insurance claims, and receivable follow-ups. Detailed monthly Receivable reporting.
  • Verify inventory adjustments, expires, and stock variances, coordinate with storekeepers and operations.
  • Monitor branch-level expenses and profitability.
  • Validate supplier invoices, GRNs, and pricing in line with DHA/MOH regulations.
  • Manage product costing, landed cost calculations, and margin tracking.
  • Reconcile inventory valuation in coordination with warehouse and supply chain teams.
  • Monitor all receivables in real time.
  • Manage daily bank reconciliation and cash flow reporting.
  • Process payments to suppliers, logistics companies, and service providers.
  • Ensure timely salary and operational payments for pharmacy outlets.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations (filing, documentation, returns).
  • Coordinate external & internal audits by preparing accurate schedules, ensuring timely documentation, and facilitating smooth audit completion.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation in line with company policy and statutory requirements.
  • Provide financial insights to retail pharmacy operations for sales performance and cost optimisation.
  • Support pricing reviews, discounts, and margin controls for pharmaceutical products.
  • Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and HR teams for smooth business operations.
  • Highlight financial risks, cash flow concerns, and operational inefficiencies.
  • Preparing management presentations for monthly performance reviews along with reconciliations.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; professional certifications (CA/ACCA/CPA/CMA) preferred.
  • 3–5 years of accounting/finance experience in pharmaceutical distribution or retail pharmacy operations in the UAE (mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of UAE VAT, inventory accounting, and pharmacy POS systems.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NAVISION, SAP or similar).
  • Knowledge of UAE pharmaceutical regulatory environment (DHA/MOHAP) is an advantage.
