Assistant Project Engineer

The Assistant Project Engineer – Civil will act as a supervisory officer, supporting the Project Engineer on civil engineering projects and independently managing small- to medium-scale projects. The role involves performing all necessary tasks and functions, either independently or under guidance, to plan, execute, and close projects efficiently. Responsibilities include preparing project reports, maintaining liaison with other departments, initiating purchase requisitions, preparing contracts and related documentation, and ensuring overall quality control and timely execution of projects. This position is critical to maintaining operational excellence and delivering projects in alignment with MariEnergies’ strategic objectives in the energy sector.


Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Engineer in planning, coordinating, and executing civil engineering projects in line with organizational objectives.
  • Prepare and check design drawings, BOQs, technical submittals, and project specifications for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in preparing project schedules, cost estimates, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Supervise site activities, track progress, and maintain detailed records, including daily reports, site diaries, and quality checklists.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure timely execution and resolution of technical or operational issues.
  • Support procurement, material management, and logistics to ensure availability of resources and minimize delays.
  • Assist in conducting site inspections, quality audits, and HSE compliance checks to uphold standards and regulations.
  • Identify potential project risks and assist in implementing mitigation measures under guidance of the Project Engineer.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and decision-making processes to optimize project execution and resource utilization.
  • Support project handovers, commissioning activities, and documentation for operational readiness.
  • Maintain and organize project documentation, including contracts, approvals, reports, and correspondence.
  • Stay updated on engineering best practices, industry standards, and emerging technologies, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.


Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in civil engineering from a well reputed university.
  • Possess 5-7 years of experience as site engineer/site In-charge in site management, execution and preparation of scope of work.
  • Experience of working on camp-based construction sites in remote locations, and flexible to work in remote areas, with prompt mobilization as required.
  • Strong knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil engineering software.
  • Basic understanding of international procedures of Project Management & up to date Best Practices.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • Familiarity with contract conditions (FIDIC)
  • Checking of Measurement Sheets/books, check requests, checking/measuring work done at project site for various activities and Preparation/checking of IPC/Invoice
  • Initiation of Daily/weekly progress reports
  • Experience in tracking project progress on related software (Primavera/MS Projects)
