An Assistant QC Mechanical Inspector is responsible for inspecting materials, and processes to ensure they meet quality and safety standards through various inspections and tests. Key duties include performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections using precision instruments, reading technical drawings and specifications, documenting findings, and reporting any non-conformances to supervisors. This role requires meticulous record-keeping and collaboration with other teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Key responsibilities
Perform inspections: Conduct inspections of incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished products according to job orders and technical drawings.
Use measuring instruments: Use precision measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions and ensure parts are within specified tolerances.
Conduct tests: Perform various tests, such as non-destructive testing (NDT) or hydrostatic tests, to ensure quality and functionality.
Interpret technical documents: Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other engineering documents to understand quality expectations.
Document and report: Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and findings. Document and report non-conformances, defects, and deviations to the Quality Control Supervisor or Manager.
Collaborate with teams: Work with production, engineering, and other teams to discuss quality issues and help develop solutions and corrective actions.
Maintain quality standards: Ensure that all work complies with industry codes, regulations, and company quality policies.
Assist with quality system: Help with the organization, maintenance, and control of the overall quality system and procedures.
Essential skills
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and tools.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good documentation and reporting skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with different departments.
