Qatar University’s Agricultural Research Station is seeking a Research Assistant/Associate specializing in crop science with a focus on arid plants, particularly date palm. The successful candidate will support research activities related to physiology, genetics, breeding, and sustainable management of date palms and other drought-tolerant crops. This position involves conducting field and laboratory experiments, data collection and analysis, and assisting in research publications and grant applications.
1. Conduct independent and collaborative research on date palm genetics, physiology, breeding, and sustainable management.
2. Assist in field and greenhouse experiments related to date palm growth, stress adaptation, and productivity.
3. Conduct lab-based analyses on plant physiology, genetics, and soil-water interactions.
4. Support data collection, statistical analysis, and report writing.
5. Maintain research plots, monitor plant growth, and apply appropriate agronomic treatments.
6. Assist in publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting results at conferences.
7. Contribute to grant writing and research proposal development.
8. Collaborate with faculty, students, and external research partners.
9. Assist in developing extension materials for farmers and industry stakeholders.
